ILCA, Control systems, Vang block without key - "Classic"

This was the upper vang (or "kicking strap") block originally supplied with all Lasers & latter only with the Laser "Classics".

It you are using a Laser or ILCA for "cruising" the "Classic" set-up is fine. it is cheap & does an adequate job resulting in a fairly forgiving boat to sail & plenty of room under the boom.

If you are using a Laser or ILCA for racing, then you will need the Harken version. The Harken version is much more powerful which if employed correctly results in more speed but a less forgiving boat & less room under the boom.
